Mercato : Le FC Barcelone snobe 60 millions d’euros pour Dani Olmo

Some refusals sometimes carry more weight than the biggest transfers. By firmly rejecting Arsenal 's advances for Dani Olmo , FC Barcelona has just sent a strong signal to Europe: the Catalan club is no longer a "free-for-all," even in the face of dazzling offers.

The Gunners' express offensive

At the beginning of April, Mikel Arteta thought he had found the weakness. Taking advantage of the rotation system implemented by Hansi Flick, the Arsenal coach attempted an aggressive approach:

  1. Transfer fee: 60 million euros fixed (plus bonuses).
  2. Salary offer: 9.5 million euros net per year (i.e. the top of the London salary scale).
  3. Status: A promise of a central role at the heart of the attack.

However, the verdict came in less than 24 hours. According to Goal.com , Barça rejected the proposal without even opening the door to negotiations. The offer was deemed "ambitious but categorically rejected."

The "Blaugrana Dream" is stronger than money

Beyond the club's strategy, it's Dani Olmo's loyalty that impresses. Despite fierce competition from Pedri, Gavi, and Fermín López , the 27-year-old Spanish international has no intention of leaving.

"I have no intention of leaving my Blaugrana dream prematurely," the player reportedly confided to those close to him.

Proof of this determination: the Spaniard also turned down a similar offer from Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia. For the La Masia graduate, returning to his roots is non-negotiable, regardless of the amount of the offer.

Barça locks down its key players

While the club's finances remain a sensitive issue, the Barcelona management refuses to jeopardize its sporting position. With 16 goals and 12 assists in 39 matches this season, Dani Olmo has become indispensable under Flick.

Why the club said no:

  1. Sporting profitability: The player is one of the most decisive in the current squad.
  2. Stability: Barça is in the thick of the title race and refuses to strengthen a European competitor.
  3. Investment: Recruited for 55 million euros, selling him today for 60 million would not represent a logical capital gain for a player of his stature.

And now for Arsenal?

This is a resounding defeat for the Gunners, who must now activate their plan B. While the name of Leon Goretzka (Bayern Munich) is already circulating at the Emirates Stadium, the Olmo deal may only be put on hold. Unless there's a financial turnaround in 2027, Barcelona's resistance seems, for the time being, insurmountable.
