Métrologie au Togo : Vers une régularisation obligatoire avant le 30 juin 2026

The Ministry of Investment Promotion and Economic Sovereignty is taking a firmer stance. In an official statement, Togolese authorities are urging stakeholders in the metrology sector to regularize their administrative status. The deadline is now set: June 30, 2026 .

A regulatory framework to guarantee reliability

The practice of activities related to measuring instruments is no longer optional but a strictly regulated profession. This initiative aims to structure the national quality system through several pillars:

  1. The requirement for approval: Any intervention (installation, repair, maintenance or control) on measuring instruments requires prior authorization.
  2. Trade transparency: Ensuring that the measures used in trade are accurate and indisputable.
  3. Consumer protection: Securing transactions to avoid harm related to faulty or uncertified measurement tools.

Sanctions and controls: the end of tolerance

The government reiterates that regular inspections are already being carried out on the ground by the relevant services. For those who are lagging behind, the message is clear:

"After this deadline [June 30, 2026], any economic operator operating without authorization will be subject to the applicable legal and regulatory penalties."

Key takeaway: The operators concerned still have a few months to comply and avoid prosecution or a disruption of their activities. This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen the country's economic sovereignty through technical excellence.
