Côte d'Ivoire/San Pedro: la Fondation Portéo soulage les élèves, parents et personnel enseignant de l’EPP Moussadougou Unicef

The Portéo Foundation, in collaboration with the association Les Zinzins du Bonheur, fulfilled a promise made last year during the distribution of school kits for the 2024-2025 school year. On Thursday, October 17, 2025, Moussadougou, a small town located 20 km from San Pedro, welcomed a delegation from the said foundation to fulfill its commitment.

The Moussadougou UNICEF Public Primary School has benefited from the construction of three new modern classrooms, the installation of six latrines, and the distribution of school kits to students. This approach follows an edifying observation made during the previous distribution of school kits, which revealed the difficult learning conditions in the school due to the lack of adequate infrastructure. Indeed, students from CE2 to CM2 studied in precarious conditions, in dilapidated classrooms that did not promote intellectual development or learning comfort.

To support this initiative, a fruit tree planting operation was launched to raise awareness among students about environmental preservation.

The representative of the President of the Porteo Foundation, Dr. Coulibaly Aboudramane, reiterated that this investment in education is not limited to the construction of infrastructure. The success of this initiative will also depend on the involvement of parents, teachers, and students. He therefore encouraged the entire community to be actively involved in maintaining this new infrastructure and encouraging academic excellence. "A child's education is not limited to teachers. It is the responsibility of parents to closely monitor their children's progress and work with teachers to ensure their success," added Dr. Aboudramane.

For his part, the president of Zinzins du Bonheur, Dr. Magloire Amichia, warmly thanked the partners involved in this project and emphasized the importance of this initiative for the future of Moussadougou. According to him, this school could one day produce future engineers, doctors, and community leaders.

In his speech, the sub-prefect of San Pedro, Mr. Soumaïla Koné, emphasized the importance of this action for the community and expressed his gratitude to the donors. According to him, this initiative is not limited to a simple gesture of charity, but is part of a deep commitment to education and sustainable development. "This is not just a simple donation, but an act of solidarity driven by strong human values, an act that deserves to be followed and supported over time. I would like to thank you on behalf of all the parents and residents of Moussadougou," said the sub-prefect.

The Moussadougou UNICEF School, which was created thanks to an unfinished UNICEF project, now benefits from the special attention of the Portéo Foundation and its partners. The school's principal, Mr. Dah Robert, expressed his gratitude, emphasizing that this ceremony was much more than just an event. It was a moment of renewal for the school, which now sees its teaching conditions transformed thanks to this generous support. "It is a real pleasure to host this ceremony. This donation will allow our students to study in conditions conducive to their development. We are committed to maintaining this infrastructure and supporting our students towards excellence," he said.

The event also highlighted the extent of the commitment of the Portéo Foundation and its partners. Not only does Moussadougou benefit from these new facilities, but the Foundation also works in several other regions of Côte d'Ivoire, providing support to more than 7,000 students and 66 teachers by distributing school kits.

Mr. Raymond Kipré, representative of DRENA (Regional Director of National Education and Literacy), welcomed this initiative. He emphasized that this approach reflects a fruitful partnership between state actors and private partners, and that it would contribute to the sustainability of educational infrastructure in the San Pedro region. "This project is a model of collaboration between the state and civil society. We are committed to ensuring the sustainability of this project and its proper management," added Mr. Kipré.

The event concluded with a speech by the village chief of Moussadougou, represented by Mr. Traoré Daouda, who expressed his emotion and gratitude to the partners for the significant support provided to the community. "Moussadougou opens its arms to you, and this gesture will mark a turning point for the future of our children and our village. Thank you all for your support," he said.
