L’ANAMCI forme 500 aviculteurs à l’autoproduction d'aliments

Faced with soaring production costs, the National Association of Small-Scale Poultry Farmers of Côte d'Ivoire (ANAMCI) organized a large-scale training session in Abidjan on Saturday, April 11, 2026. More than 500 stakeholders in the sector gathered around a central objective: to master the production of their own poultry feed.

Reducing costs to survive

The theme of this meeting, "Learning to produce your own poultry feed," was not chosen at random. Since 2017, the elimination of certain exemptions on raw materials has caused a surge in the price of industrial feed, crippling small farmers.

“Faced with rising prices, unity is our only strength. Producing our own food is the key to reducing our costs and maintaining our activities,” stressed N’Gname Victor , president of ANAMCI.

A matter of national competitiveness

The situation is alarming: many farmers have had to scale back their operations or close down altogether. To reverse this trend and compete with imported products, ANAMCI is aiming for a drastic reduction in costs.

  1. Current production cost: approximately 2,400 FCFA per chicken.
  2. Target amount: between 1,500 and 1,600 FCFA.

Technical expertise and resilience

Trainer and entrepreneur Tia Gueu Rock Stéphane (better known by his pseudonym "Stéphane Sucré") shared his expertise in feed formulation. According to him, self-production not only saves money but also guarantees better nutritional quality and optimized animal growth. He emphasized, however, that success relies on resilience and passion, essential for overcoming the health challenges inherent in the profession.

Towards greater autonomy

Coming from all corners of Côte d'Ivoire, the participants expressed their relief. This training represents for them a lever for financial and technical autonomy , essential for transforming their farms into sustainable and competitive businesses.

This initiative marks a decisive step towards food sovereignty for the Ivorian poultry sector.
