Modernisation routière : Le Japon offre 6 milliards de FCFA pour l'entretien du Grand Abidjan
Ivorian-Japanese cooperation has reached a new stage. On Thursday, February 26, 2026, in Abidjan-Plateau, a grant agreement of 1.618 billion yen (approximately 6 billion FCFA) was formalized to transform road maintenance in the metropolis.
This funding is specifically intended for Ageroute's Mobile Time-Based Repair Unit . The objective is clear: to provide specialized equipment for rapid intervention on road damage.
“This agreement is a major step forward for the preservation of our road heritage,” said Adama Coulibaly, Minister of Economy, Finance and Budget, during the signing with Wakabayashi Mitoharu, JICA Resident Representative.

Wakabayashi Mitoharu emphasized that the sustainability of the infrastructure depends on quality maintenance and transparent management. He also announced the imminent signing, in March 2026, of two new loan agreements concerning interchange and local governance projects.
The Minister of Infrastructure, Hien Sié Yacouba, welcomed this technical and financial support, pledging to make exemplary use of the equipment to guarantee a smooth and safe road network.
