Affaire Jacques Bertrand Mang : L’UDC s’insurge contre la torture présumée de l'activiste
The Democratic Union of Cameroon (UDC) has spoken out to denounce the inhumane treatment allegedly suffered by cyberactivist Jacques Bertrand Mang. Through its president, Patricia Tomaino Ndam Njoya , the political party expressed its deep concern and strongly condemned practices that it reiterated were formally prohibited by the Cameroonian Constitution.
"If the reported facts were proven, they would constitute a serious violation of fundamental rights and the principles of the rule of law," the UDC insists in an official statement.
The political party insists that no civic engagement or dispute can legitimize the use of violence or cruel and degrading treatment. It demands that the authorities conduct a full investigation into this matter to guarantee the activist's physical and moral integrity and ensure strict respect for their rights.
Known for his denunciations of social injustices and governance problems, Jacques Bertrand Mang finds himself once again at the center of current events.
The events allegedly took place on June 30, 2026, at a police station in the city of Douala:
This is not the first time the whistleblower has run afoul of the security and judicial system. Jacques Bertrand Mang is particularly feared for his live videos in which he targets numerous public figures.
In the past, his stances have already earned him several legal complaints, as well as a controversial arrest followed by forced psychiatric confinement in a health facility.
