Algérie : mauvaise nouvelle pour Amine Gouiri après le nul contre l’Ouganda

Algerian striker Amine Gouiri suffered shoulder and head injuries on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, during a charge by the Ugandan goalkeeper during the final match of the African zone qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup , the Algeria coach said.

"Regarding our striker Amine Gouiri, the first medical examination revealed a head and shoulder injury. He is undergoing further examinations right now and I hope they will be reassuring," said Vladimir Petkovic after the match, which was won 2-1 after Algeria secured their qualification for the World Cup the previous day. On Tuesday evening, while the Marseille striker had his back to goal in the Ugandan penalty area, he was violently hit by Salim Magoola, who came out to clear the ball in the 86th minute.

The 25-year-old lay on the pitch for several minutes, with medics examining his head and right shoulder, before being carried off on a stretcher with a bandage on his head.

The Ugandan goalkeeper, who received a warning for the action, which resulted in a penalty, was also stretchered off.

Gouiri had already injured his right shoulder on September 12 during a Ligue 1 match against Lorient. He has been wearing shoulder protection ever since.

OM, contacted by AFP, did not immediately respond to the possible unavailability of its striker, who has scored one goal this season in Ligue 1.
