Burkina/Ouagadougou : Deux individus appréhendés pour une série d'agressions, vols à main armée et viols

The Ouagadougou District Police Station (CPA) No. 08 recently conducted a successful operation as part of its fight against insecurity. This led to the arrest of two individuals suspected of being responsible for a series of assaults, armed robberies, and acts of sexual violence in the Bassinko and Yagma neighborhoods.

🕵️‍♀️ Operating Method and Targets

These criminals specifically targeted women . Their strategy consisted of identifying and targeting homes inhabited solely by women. They also used routes leading to schools to prey on students who found themselves isolated on roads far from homes on their way home.

Once they had identified their targets and locations, they would break into homes at night. Using armed threats , they held their victims at gunpoint and robbed them of their belongings. In addition to the thefts, they demanded the PIN codes for Orange Money accounts in order to withdraw the money from transfer points. Furthermore, they often subjected their victims to sexual violence before fleeing. The cell phones and other stolen goods were then sold on the black market.

📊 Package Summary

The preliminary report attributed to this criminal duo indicates that approximately ten women were victims . Among them, four (4) suffered sexual assaults. This grim tally includes two students , one of whom is a 17-year-old minor .
