Centrafrique : Anicet-Georges Dologuélé conteste le scrutin et revendique la présidence
One week after the general elections of December 28, 2025, the political climate is becoming tense in the Central African Republic. At a press conference held in Bangui this Friday, January 2, the leader of the opposition, Anicet-Georges Dologuélé , directly attacked the regularity of the electoral process.
The president of the Union for Central African Renewal (URCA) asserts that the election was marred by irregularities orchestrated by the ruling power with the complicity of the National Elections Authority (ANE). Based on reports from his delegates and some observers, he denounces:
"I'm the one who won. I can't recognize the results of someone who didn't win," the opposition leader insisted, citing videos circulating on social media showing tally sheets being thrown on the ground.
The ruling United Hearts Movement (MCU) dismisses these accusations out of hand. For Évariste Ngamana, spokesperson for the MCU, this media appearance is a sign of an imminent defeat that the opposition refuses to acknowledge.
The ruling party reiterates that only the National Elections Authority (ANE) and the Constitutional Court are authorized to announce the results. "This is a desperate attempt to deflect attention. He's playing to the gallery because he already knows he's lost," reacted Mr. Ngamana, calling for respect for the institutions.
Faced with this rising tension, the National Elections Authority is attempting to reassure the public about the transparency of the vote count. The electoral calendar remains unchanged.
