Centrafrique : Faustin-Archange Touadéra déclaré vainqueur dès le premier tour
The National Elections Authority (ANE) delivered its verdict on the night of January 5-6, 2026: outgoing President Faustin-Archange Touadéra won the presidential election with 76.15% of the votes cast, according to provisional results.
This quadruple election (presidential, legislative, regional, and municipal), held on December 28, 2025, marks a decisive step for the country. However, these results will only be final after validation by the Constitutional Council in mid-January, once the appeals have been examined.
Despite the satisfaction expressed by observers from the African Union who described the elections as "peaceful," the political climate remains extremely tense:
First elected in 2016, Mr. Touadéra amended the Constitution in 2023 to remove term limits, a reform that allowed him to run again and continues to fuel tensions with his critics. For its part, the presidency has firmly rejected accusations of fraud, warning against any attempt to destabilize the country.
