Centrafrique : Faustin-Archange Touadéra lance l'ère de la VIIe République

Re-elected with an overwhelming majority, the Central African president was sworn in this Monday, March 30, 2026, in Bangui. Amid popular enthusiasm and a high-level diplomatic presence, Faustin-Archange Touadéra begins a seven-year term focused on reconstruction and major infrastructure projects.

A lavish inauguration

The Barthélémy-Boganda sports complex was buzzing with excitement. Before a sea of nearly 20,000 supporters dressed in the national colors, Faustin-Archange Touadéra officially began his third term. This ceremony marks a historic turning point: the entry of the Central African Republic into its Seventh Republic .

The 68-year-old head of state took the oath of office with his hand on the Bible, pledging to guarantee the integrity of the territory and the well-being of its citizens. For the occasion, the podium in Bangui drew a large gathering of African leaders, demonstrating strong regional support.

  1. Évariste Ndayishimiye (Burundi), current Chairperson of the African Union;
  2. Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema (Gabon);
  3. Denis Sassou Nguesso (Congo);
  4. Azali Assoumani (Comoros).

The priorities of a new seven-year term

With 77.90% of the vote in the December 28th election, the president used his address to outline his roadmap for the next seven years. His program aims to directly address the problems that continue to divide the country.

"Our priority will be to consolidate peace, strengthen our economy and eradicate corruption," President Touadéra emphasized.

The main points of his speech:

  1. Stability and Justice: To continue the pacification of the territory initiated since coming to power in 2016.
  2. Infrastructure: Development of large-scale projects (roads, railways, energy) in collaboration with international partners.
  3. Economy and Youth: Combating mass unemployment and promoting the use of natural resources.

Between hope and pragmatism: the voice of the Central Africans

In the stands, the enthusiasm of the United Hearts Movement (MCU) activists was palpable, but expectations remained high. For many, like Francis, a citizen present at the ceremony, the time for promises was over; now was the time for concrete action. The issues of food self-sufficiency , livestock development, and permanent security remained the primary barometer of the success of this new term.

The challenge is significant: to transform the regained political stability into tangible social progress for a population that expects to see the "Seventh Republic" directly reflected in their food and daily lives.
