Centrafrique: l’opposant Dologuélé perd officiellement sa nationalité centrafricaine

It is difficult to predict the political future of the Central African Republic following this court decision. One thing is certain: as of October 16, 2025, Anicet-Georges Dologuélé officially lost his Central African nationality.

In an order of the High Court of Bangui and consulted by our editorial staff, the Judge declared "null and void the certificate of nationality issued on October 10, 2012 by the High Court of Bangui" to Anicet-Georges Dologuélé.

According to the Bangui High Court, Anicet-Georges Dologuélé, who acquired French nationality in 1994, had "concealed" this information in order to "obtain a Central African nationality certificate in 2012" in Bangui.

In principle, the Judge recalls, "obtaining French nationality automatically caused him to lose his Central African nationality." Consequently, the Court explains in this order, "the Central African nationality certificate was obtained fraudulently" by Anicet-Georges Dologuélé.

On this same subject, Anicet-Georges Dologuélé had already sent a letter to Faustin-Archange Touadéra. In this letter, he denounced the application of an outdated law to declare him "stateless, and therefore ineligible for the presidential election" in the Central African Republic. And in a letter dated October 16, 2025, the Presidency reiterated that Faustin-Archange Touadéra "does not intend to interfere in any way in the administrative or judicial processing" of his case.

Anicet-Georges Dologuélé, whose Central African nationality is withdrawn on October 16, 2025, is also a candidate in the 2025 presidential election. His candidacy was submitted on October 12, 2025 to the National Elections Authority (ANE) in Bangui.

The latter had renounced his French nationality in September in order to comply with the law, which enshrines the principle of the exclusivity of Central African nationality in the context of the presidential election in the Central African Republic.
