Congo : Un investissement massif de 52 milliards FCFA pour propulser l'agriculture

The village of Bambou-Mingali , 60 km from Brazzaville, will host the very first edition of the Great Agricultural Fair of Congo (GFAC) from February 5 to 15, 2026. Under the slogan "Progress through land, unity through work," this event marks a turning point in the country's economic diversification strategy.

A strategic partnership with the AfDB

The highlight of the event was the announcement of a massive funding package from the African Development Bank (AfDB) . With a budget of 80 million euros (approximately 52.5 billion FCFA) , the institution is directly supporting the Congolese government through the Prodivac (Integrated Agricultural Value Chain Development Project in Congo).

"This fair illustrates a clear ambition: to make agriculture an engine of food sovereignty and inclusive growth," stressed Léandre Bassolé , Director General of the AfDB for Central Africa.

The key objectives of the PRODIVAC project

The project is not limited to a simple exhibition; it aims for a structural transformation of the sector:

  1. Increased productivity: Support for mechanization and irrigation.
  2. Priority sectors: Focus on maize, cassava and soybeans.
  3. Social inclusion: Creation of targeted jobs for young people and women.
  4. Production areas: Support for High Productivity Agricultural Zones (ZAP) and agri-food SMEs.

The Fair: A crossroads of innovation and business

GFAC 2026 aims to be a technological showcase and a networking hub:

  1. Technical demonstrations: Presentation of modern equipment and new technical routes.
  2. B2B space: Direct meetings between investors, producers and financial partners.
  3. Expertise: Thematic conferences led by international specialists.

This deployment is part of the Agenda for Agricultural Transformation in Congo (ATAC) , a central pillar of the National Development Plan 2022-2026. As the project coordinator, Marcel Dieudonné Nzemba , recalled, this is a long-term project aimed at providing sustainable solutions for the country's food security.
