Police raid in Dakar: Four suspects arrested in connection with a series of burglaries

The Senegalese national police announced the arrest, this Wednesday December 3, 2025, of four individuals suspected of having carried out a series of burglaries in several neighborhoods of Dakar.

The accused are currently being prosecuted on a long list of charges including criminal association , aggravated theft (day and night), scaling , breaking and entering , use of vehicles for the transport of stolen goods, and receiving stolen goods.

The operation was launched following information regarding the presence, in the Cité Baraque de Liberté 6 neighborhood, of an individual involved in multiple thefts. The main suspect, once apprehended and interrogated, quickly confessed to a series of break-ins in the Virage, Ngor, Mamelles, and Liberté 6 Extension areas.

According to a statement from the National Police, this suspect initially confessed to stealing several items in Liberté 6 Extension: a mobile phone, a 1 terabyte HP computer, a Samsung A21, a PlayStation 4 console, and cash. The total value of this initial haul is estimated at 760,000 CFA francs .

Continuing his detailed confession, he also mentioned other burglaries committed in the Mbackiyou Faye housing complex in Mamelles. The losses suffered by the victims are considerable:

  1. In an apartment: 2,545,500 CFA francs in cash and 1,540,000 CFA francs in gold jewelry .
  2. In a neighboring home: 2,250,000 CFA francs .

Another robbery reportedly took place in Ouakam, at a residence in the COMICO housing complex, where 1,800,000 CFA francs were allegedly stolen. Finally, the suspect admitted to breaking into two homes in Virage, the value of the stolen goods still being assessed.

The four individuals arrested have been brought before the public prosecutor . The Senegalese National Police reaffirms its full commitment to the safety of the population and strongly encourages citizens to report any relevant information by calling the toll-free number: 800 00 17 00 .
