Crise à la CAF : Le Sénégal crie au scandale après l'attribution de la CAN 2025 au Maroc

Tensions are rising between Dakar and the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Following Morocco's announcement that it would host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the Senegalese government broke its silence to denounce a decision it deemed arbitrary. Amid accusations of corruption and threats of legal action, African football is plunging into a full-blown diplomatic crisis .

The Senegalese government is demanding an international investigation

Senegal is struggling to accept what it calls a "rigged" victory. In a particularly scathing official statement, the government spokesperson demanded the immediate launch of an independent investigation . The objective: to shed light on allegations of corruption that, according to Dakar, are plaguing the governing bodies of the CAF (Confederation of African Football).

"Senegal will use all appropriate legal means [...] to ensure that the primacy of the sporting result is restored."

A legal and diplomatic battle ensues.

For the Senegalese authorities, the very credibility of continental football is at stake. Behind the words, an offensive strategy is already taking shape:

  1. Appeal to the CAS: Legal experts are studying the possibility of appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
  2. Diplomatic pressure: Dakar is considering taking the matter to African intergovernmental bodies.
  3. Denunciation of opacity: The country refuses to endorse a management deemed "politicized" and disconnected from sporting merit.

The fate of the fans: a major point of contention

The unease doesn't stop at the stadium's borders. The government used this opportunity to raise a sensitive humanitarian issue: the detention of Senegalese supporters in Morocco since the last final. By linking sporting stakes to the protection of its citizens, Dakar is transforming this dispute into a full-blown national affair, severely straining its historical relationship with Rabat.

In summary: Two visions clash

Senegal's position Morocco's position (via media)
It denounces a lack of transparency and an injustice. Sees recognition of its logistical excellence.
Demands an accounting from the CAF. Celebrates a "deserved" award.
Threat of international legal action. For the time being, they are maintaining official silence.

African football is holding its breath: this power struggle could well mark a historic turning point in the relationship between national federations and their governing body.
