On the occasion of his traditional message to the Nation this Wednesday, December 31, 2025, the Ivorian Head of State, Alassane Ouattara , reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening social cohesion by granting a presidential pardon to 4,656 common law prisoners .

A second chance for the new year

In keeping with the end-of-year tradition of leniency, the President has decided to open prison doors to two categories of those convicted of minor offenses:

1. 2,000 prisoners benefiting from a full remission of sentence.
2. 2,656 prisoners whose remaining sentence is less than or equal to 36 months.

This measure aims to promote the reintegration of these citizens while easing social tensions. " Preserving peace and strengthening social cohesion must remain at the heart of our priorities ," the Head of State emphasized.

A mandate focused on transmission

Re-elected on October 25th, Alassane Ouattara used this platform to outline the main points of his new mandate. This mandate will be resolutely focused on "generational transfer" .

According to the President, the future of Ivory Coast rests on a foundation of strong civic values:
