A terrible family tragedy has shaken the Cité Fadia neighborhood in Senegal. On Thursday, May 28, 2026, a dispute with tragic consequences broke out on the second floor of a residential building, requiring the urgent intervention of law enforcement.

An attack of unprecedented violence

Alerted around 1 p.m., police officers from the Golf Sud District Police Station discovered a scene of great violence, with the walls and floor of the apartment covered in blood.

According to initial findings of the investigation, based on the testimony of the older brother, the suspect—who appeared to be under the influence of drugs—attacked one of his brothers after a minor altercation over the consumption of raw offal in the living room. The assailant waited until the victim fell asleep before stabbing him multiple times.

Context: The suspect did not live at the address. He had gone there the previous day, in a state of intoxication, to the apartment rented by his brother to participate in family celebrations.

A tumultuous arrest

Armed with five knives, the assailant initially barricaded himself in a bedroom, vandalizing the furniture and threatening the safety of his own family. Given the dangerous situation, the Multipurpose Intervention Brigade (BIP) was called in as backup.

However, even before the elite unit arrived, the suspect attempted to flee by climbing onto the balcony. During his escape, he tripped and fell, allowing the Golf Sud police officers to immediately apprehend him and confiscate his weapons.

The fatal outcome and the aftermath of the investigation

The victim was rushed to Dalal Jamm Hospital by her relatives and admitted to intensive care, but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.

The suspect has been taken into custody and a murder investigation is currently underway to shed full light on this case.

The National Police reiterates its commitment to the safety of citizens and reminds the public that they can contact them free of charge at any time on 800 00 17 00 to report any incident.
