Fonction publique : L'État burkinabè recrute 15 512 nouveaux agents pour 2026

The President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré , chaired the Council of Ministers this Thursday, March 5, 2026. Two major announcements marked this council: a vast recruitment plan in the civil service and a profound reform of land management.

1. Mass recruitment: Priority given to youth and national heroes

The government has officially launched the recruitment campaign for 2026. A total of 15,512 positions are available to strengthen the public administration.

  1. Direct competitions: 12,995 positions (including 137 sectors with training and 38 without prior training).
  2. Professional competitions: 2,517 positions for internal promotion.
  3. Organization: 285 competitions in total, with some exams being held in Bobo-Dioulasso for greater proximity.

A national solidarity quota: A major innovation of this session, 504 positions are specifically reserved for defense personnel and vulnerable populations, including:

  1. The Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland ( VDP ).
  2. Community health workers and teachers.
  3. The orphans and widows of members of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) who fell for the homeland.

2. Land Reform: Land at the Service of Development

The Minister of Economy, Dr. Aboubakar Nacanabo , presented the implementation details of the new Agrarian and Land Reorganization (RAF). From now on, the principle is clear: the land belongs to the State , which delegates its management to local authorities.

Key points of the new land management system:

  1. Limiting abuses: It is now impossible to obtain more than one plot per region during a subdivision.
  2. Modernization: The land registry is digitized, allowing cadastral extracts to be obtained directly online.
  3. Satellite monitoring: Verification of land development will now be done using satellite imagery.
  4. Flexibility: The legal time limit for developing land is increased from 5 to 8 years .
"These innovations make land a real lever for development serving the people," stressed Dr. Nacanabo.
