Following the successful operation in Dakola on April 15th, it was the turn of the Mobile Brigade (BM) of Customs in Bobo-Dioulasso to demonstrate the firmness of the customs administration. Between April 3rd and 13th, 2026 , a series of targeted interventions led to the dismantling of several criminal networks, with a total seizure estimated at over 70 million FCFA .

An arsenal of prohibited and dangerous products

Far from being limited to simple commercial fraud, the seizures reveal serious threats to public health and the environment:

1. Public health: 389,000 tablets of illicit drugs.
2. Narcotics: 77 kg of marijuana, ingeniously concealed in water heaters.
3. Toxic chemicals: 92 kg of mercury and 100 kg of cyanide, highly regulated substances often used in illegal gold mining.

The value of these health and narcotic products alone is estimated at over 30 million FCFA .

"Energy piracy" and national security

Economic warfare officers also dismantled a large-scale fuel smuggling operation. A total of 20,000 liters (contained in 800 25-liter jerrycans) were intercepted. Beyond the financial loss to the state, authorities suspect this fuel could be used to supply groups hostile to the nation.

The determination of the Director General

The Director General of Customs, Divisional Inspector Yves Kafando , welcomed these successive victories. For him, the offensive carried out in Bobo-Dioulasso is part of the vision of the "Popular Progressive Revolution":

"Every road, every path, and every vector of fraud will become the tomb of the ambitions of those who dare to stab our homeland in the back."
