Ghana: Drame lors d'un recrutement militaire à Accra : Six morts dans une bousculade
A recruitment session for the Ghanaian army turned into a tragedy on Wednesday in the capital, Accra, leaving at least six dead and many injured following a violent stampede.
The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. at the entrance to El-Wak Stadium, the venue chosen for the exams. Due to a massive influx of candidates , a deadly stampede erupted when, according to initial reports, numerous young people forced their way through the stadium's main entrance.
Six people lost their lives trying to access the compound, and several others were injured in the chaos. The injured victims were quickly transferred to Military Hospital 37 in the capital for treatment.
Following this tragedy, the recruitment operation was immediately suspended .
The Ghanaian army issued a statement expressing its deep regret over the incident and offering its condolences to the families of the victims. The bodies of the six deceased are expected to be returned to their families as soon as possible.
