The Golf Sud police station apprehended a dangerous sex offender in his sixties on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. The individual is being prosecuted for serious offenses: pedophilia, attempted rape, harassment of a minor, and unnatural acts.

A modus operandi based on deception

It all started at the Golf Sud BRT station. The suspect approached his victim, a 9th-grade student, feigning interest in his academic success. Under the pretext of lending him math textbooks for his exams, he managed to obtain the teenager's phone number.

Once contact was established, the man in his sixties changed his demeanor. He harassed the young man with incessant calls and eventually made explicit sexual propositions.

The victim's exemplary courage

Far from being intimidated, the high school student displayed remarkable composure. He immediately alerted the authorities through the Dakar Central Police Station. In cooperation with the police, he agreed to act as bait to trap his attacker, pretending to accept an invitation to his home.

The intervention of the Research Brigade

On April 7, around 6:00 PM, a surveillance operation was set up in the Aliou Sow housing complex . As soon as the teenager entered the suspect's room, officers from the Criminal Investigation Brigade intervened.

Caught red-handed: The man was caught in the act of attempting to commit the crime. Officers found lubricants at the scene, confirming his criminal intentions.

Legal outcome

Taken to the police station, the suspect confessed fully. Currently in custody, he will be brought before the public prosecutor as soon as the preliminary investigation is completed to answer for his actions.
