Guinée-Bissau : l'armée annonce avoir déjoué une "tentative de subversion", plusieurs officiers arrêtés
The Guinea-Bissau army announced on Friday that it had thwarted an "attempt to subvert the constitutional order", with the arrest of several senior officers, during a press conference on the eve of the opening of the campaign for the general elections scheduled for November 23.
"This action was aimed at disrupting the electoral process," declared the deputy chief of staff, General Mamadu Turé, in this West African country plagued by chronic political instability, without specifying the number of officers arrested or the actions planned by these soldiers. Several other officers are on the run, according to Mr. Turé.
