Guinée/Lola : Des femmes manifestent torses nus pour dénoncer les exactions et les menaces des bouviers
A rare and symbolic protest scene took place on the afternoon of Thursday, October 16, 2025, in Lola, in the Forest Region of Guinea. Women from the districts of Gbèckè and N'Zon demonstrated topless in front of the prefectural administrative building to express their anger at the violence and threats they attribute to the herdsmen established in their communities.
The protesters, mostly mothers, expressed their frustration in a tense and emotional atmosphere.
Testimonies gathered on site highlight the women's distress, as their traditional activities are threatened. "Some say they can no longer enter the forest because of threats from herdsmen. Others say their children are insulted, beaten, and humiliated. This is what prompted them to protest," explained a resident contacted by Seneweb.
From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., the women remained gathered in front of the prefecture, refusing to disperse without assurances of a concrete solution. Exhausted, they finally left the premises without receiving a satisfactory response.
The protesters are demanding immediate intervention from the prefectural authorities so that a mission can be sent to their villages to investigate the situation. The main objective is to obtain an injunction for the departure of the herdsmen who occupy the forest areas, which are essential for their agricultural and gathering activities.
A local official explained that the chief of staff and the secretary general of the prefecture spoke with the women, but indicated that they were not authorized to make a decision in the absence of the prefect and the mayor, both of whom were traveling.
To date, no official reaction has yet been recorded from the prefectural authorities on this extraordinary event.
