Fada N'Gourma, Burkina Faso - The constituted bodies of the Goulmou region gathered this Friday, October 31, 2025 in Fada N'Gourma for a solemn ceremony, marking a vibrant tribute to the citizens who sacrificed their lives during the popular uprising of October 2014 .

This historic event marked the end of former President Blaise Compaoré's 27 years in power.

Chaired by Siaka Ouattara , Secretary General of the Goulmou region, the commemoration saw the participation of:

1. Representatives of the defense and security forces (FDS).
2. Administrative authorities.
3. Other constituted bodies in the region.

All observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims of those decisive days of October 30 and 31, 2014.

A duty of remembrance and gratitude

According to Secretary General Siaka Ouattara, this initiative aims to honor the memory of "all the victims who gave their lives to safeguard democratic gains in Burkina Faso."

"It is our duty never to forget these women and men who stood up for the freedom, justice and dignity of our people," he stated.

A call for unity and peace

Beyond the tribute, the participants issued an urgent appeal for the strengthening of:

1. Social cohesion .
2. Forgiveness .
3. The preservation of peace .

These values are considered essential to the consolidation of the rule of law and the harmonious development of the nation.

The commemoration of October 31, now institutionalized in several Burkinabe localities, remains a strong symbol of citizen resistance and of the continuous commitment to virtuous governance in Burkina Faso.
