Kasaï : Nouvelle Vague de Refoulements Angolais, 489 Congolais Arrivent à Kamako
A new wave of four hundred and eighty-nine (489) Congolese citizens, including 187 women and 29 children, were expelled from Angola to Kasai province (central DRC) in conditions described as inhumane.
These figures were reported by the provincial coordination of the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) in a report consulted this Wednesday by the Congolese Press Agency (ACP).
Mami Esther Tshiambi, provincial coordinator of the CNDH in Kasai, launched an urgent appeal to provincial and central authorities, as well as humanitarian organizations, to come to the aid of these compatriots. "These 489 Congolese, including 187 women and 29 children, were expelled from Angola in inhumane conditions and are currently living in extreme poverty," she stated.
The coordinator stressed the need for support for the family reintegration of those expelled, recalling that "despite their expulsion, these compatriots have returned to their country of origin."
According to the commission's focal points, the situation on the ground is critical: "The deportees are living without shelter, the hygienic conditions are deplorable and they are not receiving adequate healthcare."
Since the start of this wave of expulsions, a total of 1,794 Congolese, including 645 women and 229 children, have been expelled from Angola. This massive movement is concentrated at the border posts of Kamako, Mayanda, Kandjaji, and Tshisanda, in the southern part of Kasai province.
