Mali : La 47e Promotion de l’EMIA, « Général Pangassy Sangaré », Prête à Servir la Nation
343 new officers, including specialists and a marked African dimension, join the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) after a ceremony presided over by the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, General Assimi Goïta.
A Reinforced and Innovative Contingent
The 47th graduating class of the Koulikoro Combined Arms Military School (EMIA), now named after Brigadier General Pangassy Sangaré , comprises 343 young officers . This class is distinguished by its strong regional focus and the unprecedented integration of specialized profiles.
- Normal Cycle (325 officers):
- African Opening: This cycle brings together nationals from nine brotherly countries , confirming the regional vocation of EMIA.
- National Contingent: Mali is represented by 311 officers, including 32 women .
- Major Innovation: A new system has made it possible to recruit experts and specialists in military engineering, communications, health, equipment/hydrocarbons and institutional communication.
- Major: Second Lieutenant Idrissa Tiama (Malian) ranks first with an average of $16,600/20.
- Special Cycle (18 officers):
- Exclusive to nationals, this program trains healthcare professionals: 3 general practitioners and 15 specialist doctors .
- Major: Lieutenant Fousseyni Traoré , a general practitioner, obtained the best score with $15.19/20.
South-South cooperation was highlighted by the validation of a training module in Uganda by 19 officers from the class.
Solemn Commitment and Field Requirements
The new officers took their oath before the national flag and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, pledging to serve with loyalty, discipline, and dedication . Their training focused on immediate operational readiness.
- Rigorous training: It combined tactical instruction, physical training and specialized modules.
- Commando training: Physical and mental testing, with mastery of combat in desert, urban and forest environments.
- Operational Readiness: Including combat shooting and peacekeeping operations.
Note: This 47th graduating class is the last to follow a two-year program. The following class will mark the return to a three-year curriculum.

Army General Assimi Goïta: Leadership in the Service of Victory
The President of the Transition justified the choice of patron, the late Brigadier General Pangassy Sangaré , as an "act of recognition and merit".
He called on the new officers to:
- To embody the values of the godfather: loyalty, devotion and a sense of supreme sacrifice.
- Cultivating discipline, competence and cohesion , deemed essential for victory in ongoing offensive operations against armed terrorist groups.
- To honor the memory of the soldiers and civilians who fell for the Nation.
Major General Oumar Diarra: Rigor, Duty and Responsibility
The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces (CEMGA) reminded the newly promoted officers that the uniform commits them to defending the fundamental values of the Republic and demands rigor, integrity and a sense of duty .
He urged the cadets to:
- Prepare to quickly join the Combined Arms Tactical Groups (GTIA) and the Rapid Intervention Battalions (BIR) .
- To become field leaders by respecting international humanitarian law, operational discernment and assuming their moral responsibility as section leaders.
- To represent the EMIA of Koulikoro with dignity and to uphold the values of African military cooperation.
