Maroc/Kénitra : Deux mois de prison pour 14 étudiants suite aux tensions universitaires
The Kenitra Court of First Instance issued its ruling this Thursday in the case of the 14 students from Ibn Tofail University who were prosecuted following protests demanding the postponement of exams. The verdict was handed down: all defendants, whether they appeared in custody or on provisional release, received a two-month prison sentence and a fine of 500 dirhams each.
For its part, the National Union of Moroccan Students (SNEM) in Kenitra strongly contested this decision. The organization denounced a "sham trial" and maintained that the students' actions were part of a legitimate struggle to defend the public university. The union demanded the charges be dropped and the convicted individuals released immediately.
