Massacre de Ngarbuh au Cameroun : un verdict historique mais au goût d'inachevé selon HRW
The Cameroonian military court has delivered its verdict in the Ngarbuh massacre case (Northwest region), convicting four soldiers of murder. This tragedy, which occurred on February 14, 2020, claimed the lives of some twenty civilians, including ten children. While Human Rights Watch (HRW) welcomes this conviction as a crucial step toward the truth, the organization denounces the lack of prosecutions against the military hierarchy.
Illaria Allegrozzi, senior researcher at HRW, points out that an opportunity has been missed: "No high-ranking officer has been held accountable," she laments, adding that 17 militiamen involved are, to this day, still at large.
