Niger : Nouveau massacre de civils dans la zone des "trois frontières"
A new tragedy struck the Tillabéri region of Niger on Sunday, January 18. An attack carried out by armed men on motorcycles claimed the lives of at least 31 civilians in the village of Bossiyet. According to witnesses, the assailants surrounded the village in broad daylight before coldly executing the men, sparing the women.
Despite the proximity of a military camp located just 9 kilometers away, rescuers only arrived at nightfall, leaving the village to flee as its population emptied. This area, bordering Mali and Burkina Faso, remains the deadliest in the central Sahel. Faced with growing insecurity and the targeted assassinations of prominent figures, many traditional chiefs and civil authorities are abandoning their posts to seek refuge in safer urban centers.
