Nouvelle Énergie : TotalEnergies devient Barka Energies au Burkina Faso
The TotalEnergies brand, well-known to Burkinabe motorists and consumers, is officially changing its name to Barka Energies . This change follows its acquisition by the local conglomerate Coris Invest Group .
A new era is dawning in Burkina Faso's hydrocarbon sector. The official launch of Barka Energies took place this Friday, December 5, 2025, in Ouagadougou, the capital. The event was held in the presence of Vincent Ouédraogo , who assumes the leadership as the first CEO of the new entity.
According to company officials, Barka Energies' mission is clear: "to offer quality energy solutions to the population" .
To carry out this mission, Barka Energies relies on the existing network, comprising nearly 170 service stations and several depots across the country.
As a reminder, the transition began at the start of the year. In February 2025 , the French group TotalEnergies announced its intention to sell its Burkinabe assets, just a few weeks after finalizing the sale of its operations in Mali.
A few days later, Coris Invest Group , owned by businessman Idrissa Nassa , expressed its interest and willingness to acquire the assets of the French giant. This acquisition marks the birth of Barka Energies.
