RDC : Le porte-parole de l’armée suspendu après des propos polémiques sur les femmes tutsi
Major General Sylvain Ekenge, spokesperson for the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), was suspended from his duties on Monday, December 29. This decision follows his statements on December 27 on national television, where he discussed a Rwandan infiltration strategy involving marriages with Tutsi women.
The general staff quickly disavowed these remarks, describing them as contrary to "republican values" and specifying that they in no way reflect the position of President Félix Tshisekedi or the government.
National and international outrage. The general's statement provoked an immediate outcry:
This suspension comes as the Congolese government had just adopted a note to better regulate official state communication.
