Sénégal/ Mbour : Saisie de faux médicaments d'une valeur de 4,5 millions FCFA, deux arrestations
A large network distributing counterfeit medical products has been dismantled at the central market in Mbour. Following an anonymous tip, the Urban Security Unit conducted a targeted operation on May 18, 2026, arresting two merchants in the act in their shops.
The Senegalese Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (ARP), consulted for expert analysis, confirmed the dangerous nature of the merchandise and valued it at 4.5 million CFA francs. When questioned by investigators, the suspects refused to cooperate regarding the origin of their stock. They were brought before the High Court (TGI) of Mbour on Thursday, May 20, 2026. They face serious charges, including illegally practicing as pharmacists and endangering the lives of others.
