BD Elohr, nicknamed "Nelly," is a 23-year-old Nigerian national. She works as a prostitute in Ziguinchor, where she claims to have been living since February or March. She was arrested by police, accused of wanting to "infect as many Senegalese as possible" with HIV by having unprotected sex with them.

Libération, which reported this sordid affair in its Monday edition, stated that "Nelly" was denounced by a police source. The newspaper emphasizes that this source presented screenshots of WhatsApp messages supporting her claims.

The newspaper reports that the woman in question admitted to being HIV-positive and that she practices the world's oldest profession. According to the newspaper, she stated that before settling in Ziguinchor, she worked in Gambia for two years.

The same source reports that during her interrogation following her arrest at the Ziguinchor bar "Alternatives," the Nigerian woman also indicated that she was receiving rigorous medical care. "Continuing her statements," Libération adds, "she claimed to have missed only one medical appointment, on October 26, because she was menstruating."

The newspaper adds that the Ziguinchor hospital, following a request for information, "confirmed that 'Nelly' is being monitored and treated at the STI Reference Center." When confronted with the compromising WhatsApp messages, she denied the accusations, swearing that "she always takes care to use protection with her clients so as not to expose them."

The investigation is ongoing, according to Libération.
