Senegal: Une femme tente de se suicider après une rupture amoureuse par WhatsApp

A tragedy nearly occurred yesterday, Monday, at Unit 15 of Parcelles-Assainies. A 25-year-old woman attempted to end her life by swallowing pills after her boyfriend told her via WhatsApp that they were breaking up. Rescued at the last minute, she was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Yesterday, Monday, around 5 p.m., the Parcelles-Assainies Unit 15 district police station was alerted by the firefighters to a case of attempted suicide, according to Seneweb sources. Police officers were dispatched to the scene. There, officers discovered a young woman lying on her back in a bedroom, drooling and in critical condition. Packets of pills were found in the room, several of which had already been consumed. The woman is 25-year-old A. Ba. Given the seriousness of the situation, firefighters rushed the young woman to the hospital.

A breakup via WhatsApp message

Continuing their investigations, the police questioned the victim's boyfriend, DB Guèye, aged 32. He presented himself as a project manager at Sonatel and lived in the Soprim housing project.

During his hearing, he told investigators that he was in a romantic relationship with A. Ba. However, according to his statements, the young woman began to interfere in his marital life. To preserve, he said, his honor and his family, he decided to end their relationship. He announced the breakup with immediate effect via a WhatsApp message.

In response, the young woman sent him farewell messages, suggesting the worst. Worried, DB Guèye then asked the young woman's landlord to go to her room to find out for sure. This is how the suicide attempt was discovered.

An investigation has been opened by the Parcelles-Assainies district police station, unit 15, to shed light on the circumstances of this suicide attempt. The prosecutor has been informed of the case, while A. Ba's life is no longer in danger, according to our sources.
