Soudan : L'ONU dénonce des « actes de génocide » à El-Fasher
A report by the independent United Nations fact-finding mission, published this Thursday, concludes that the atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) during the capture of El-Fasher in October 2025 constitute genocide. According to experts, the systematic nature of the massacres leaves no room for any other interpretation.
After months of siege, the assault launched on October 26, 2025, by General Hemedti's paramilitaries resulted in unprecedented violence. The fact-finding mission highlights several elements proving genocidal intent :
"The scale and planning of this operation demonstrate that these are not isolated acts of violence, but a coordinated plan," says the mission president.
Although the figures remain difficult to confirm, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights is already reporting 6,000 deaths in just three days , a toll that is likely an underestimate. This massacre is part of a global conflict that, since April 2023, has claimed tens of thousands of lives and displaced more than 11 million people , creating the world's worst humanitarian crisis.
Faced with this evidence of genocide, the mission reiterates that the international community has a legal and moral obligation to intervene to protect civilians and ensure that justice is done.
Concern is now shifting to the Kordofan region, a new major front rich in oil, where the RSF is intensifying its drone attacks. Observers fear that the pattern of violence seen in North Darfur could be repeated in this neighboring province.
