N'Djamena – An incident on November 13, 2025, served as a stark reminder of the importance of home safety. A fire broke out in a residence in the Walia Hadjaraï neighborhood, located in the 9th arrondissement of N'Djamena. Thanks to the quick response of the neighbors, the incident, though dramatic, fortunately resulted in no injuries . Only minor property damage was reported.
According to initial reports from the scene, the fire appears to have originated from a butane gas installation. The homeowner reportedly turned on the appliance before briefly leaving to take a shower. Upon returning, they were greeted by a large amount of smoke coming from inside the house, indicating the start of the fire.
The alarm was raised immediately, prompting an exemplary mobilization of the neighbors. Facing the emergency without waiting for professional help, the residents used whatever resources were available: buckets of water, sand, and various tools to fight the flames.
