Tchad-Égypte : Vers la construction d’un campus de l’Université Al-Azhar à N’Djamena
A new milestone has been reached in educational cooperation between Chad and Egypt. On Wednesday, January 7, 2026, the Higher Council for Islamic Affairs (CSAI) formalized a partnership with the Egyptian Al-Borouj Group for the construction of a campus of the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Chad.
An international project: The signing, carried out by Sheikh Dr. Mahamat Khatir Issa (President of the CSAI) and Dr. Chérif Bilal (representative of Al-Borouj), took place in collaboration with the company African Gate for Investments (AFRICAN GAID) , which is responsible for the work. This project embodies a strong political will championed by Presidents Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno and Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi.
The culmination of a historic relationship. The president of the CSAI recalled that this initiative is part of a tradition of exchanges that began in the 1990s with the creation of Azharite institutes in Chad. For Dr. Chérif Bilal, this future campus is a boon for Chadian youth.
