Tchad : L’AMET s’insurge contre la convocation du directeur de publication de Nouvelles.td
The Chadian Online Media Association (AMET) strongly condemned, on Sunday, January 4, 2026, the police summons issued to Moussa Guedmbaye, head of the online newspaper Nouvelles.td. The organization sees this as an attempt to intimidate freedom of information.
Moussa Guedmbaye is expected this Monday, January 5th, at the Central Police Station No. 2 in N'Djamena. This procedure follows a complaint filed by the Public Security Police Station No. 17 (CSP 17) after the publication of an article implicating a judicial police officer. The journalistic investigation denounced acts of extortion and abuses that violated citizens' rights.
An attack on press freedom. For Djimet Wiche, vice-president of AMET, this summons by telephone is unacceptable: "It is an attempt to silence a journalist who acted in the public interest. These actions violate the Chadian Constitution," he declared.
Call to action: AMET directly calls on the Minister of Public Security to call the CSP 17 officials to order. It also calls on the entire media community, civil society and human rights defenders to mobilize to protect the right to information and put an end to these misused judicial pressures.
