Tchad : Quatre Défenseurs des Droits de l'Homme Retenus Arbitrairement dans la Province du Lac

Four members of the Chadian League for Human Rights (LTDH) are currently being held against their will in the Lake Province, where they were on a mission as part of a project on radicalization and violent extremism.

The team, composed of Ngafwe Lamtouin Lagasso (program officer), Teresa Boyalngar (socio-economic activities officer), Djasrabe Weilengar (manager) and Madjingue Djimtoingar (driver), has been struggling to return to the capital N'Djamena for almost a week.

According to initial reports and sources within the LTDH, the four individuals are being held by the general delegate of the government to the Lake Province, Saleh Tidjani Hagar.

The General Delegate's Accusations

The situation reportedly deteriorated following their field activities. When the team went to the governor's office to pay the customary respects, the delegate general allegedly accused them of being an "infiltrated NGO" and "spies" .

The LTDH reports that its members are now "forbidden from leaving the province until the head of the organization presents himself in Bol."

The organization demands the "immediate" release of its staff and calls on the authorities to guarantee the safety of civil society actors in Chad.
