Tchad : Succès Précoce pour la Variété de Riz Chinoise 'Yue NongSimiaO' à Moundou
The Friends of China Association has just scored a significant point in agricultural modernization in Chad. The experiment of the 'Yue NongSimiaO' rice variety , carried out on its field in Bémian, about 15 km north of Moundou, saw an early start to the harvest on October 23, 2025 .
Sown late, between June 30 and July 2, 2025 , this experimental field has caused a surprise. Unlike the surrounding plots, sown a month earlier with local varieties, the 'Yue NongSimiaO' reached maturity before all the others .
Through their representative, Mr. Aimé, the inhabitants of Bémian and the surrounding area, who came in large numbers for this first harvest, expressed their deep admiration for this achievement.
This variety is one of the new rice strains introduced to Chad by the Chinese Agricultural Technical Mission . The aim is to boost yields, as the varieties currently cultivated are over thirty years old and have seen their production capacity decline significantly.
Under the supervision of the association's president, the Honorable Neatobeye Le-Nasseguen'gar , and the administrator, Memgoto Djekémé Esther , this harvest was an opportunity for the producers to express a pressing need.
The producers' representative, through the Friends of China Association, requested essential support from the Chinese Agricultural Technical Mission in the form of equipment, inputs, and agricultural technologies . This assistance is considered crucial to enabling rice farmers in Western Logone to significantly increase their production.
The president of the Association reiterated this request for support in his thank-you note.
To maximize the impact of these new varieties, a training session is already planned for rice farmers in the province of Logone occidental, during the months of November or December 2025 .
This training will enable experts from the Chinese Agricultural Technical Mission to pass on the best cultivation techniques for rice production to local producers, thus ensuring the sustainability of these innovations.
