Tchad : Un Suspect de Vol de Bétail Grièvement Blessé par Balle Lors d'une Tentative d'Interpellation à Mbikou
The events took place in the early hours of November 20, 2025, in the town of Mbikou. An individual, already under surveillance by residents and reported several times for alleged cattle theft, was the subject of an investigation opened by the Mbikou Territorial Brigade.
Preliminary investigations conducted by the Brigade reportedly yielded sufficient evidence to justify intervention. Law enforcement officers therefore went to the suspect's home to arrest him and conduct further checks.
According to the authorities' account, the arrival of the Brigade was followed by a formal request for the suspect to present himself. It was at this moment, and before any coercive measures had been taken, that the individual allegedly attempted to flee .
In the confusion caused by this escape attempt, an officer reportedly used his firearm. The reasons given for the shooting were related to security concerns.
Shot and seriously wounded, the suspect was apprehended by members of the Brigade. He was immediately transferred to Bébédjia Hospital for urgent treatment.
The investigation is now being actively conducted by the authorities in order to shed light on the exact circumstances that led to the use of the firearm and to rule on the merits of the cattle theft case.
