Tchad : Vaste coup de filet anti-criminalité à N’Djaména, 42 suspects interpellés
Chadian police announced that they had dismantled several criminal networks during a major operation in N'Djamena. A total of 42 suspected criminals were arrested and presented to the press on October 22, 2025, at Central Police Station No. 1 in Gardolet.
According to Police Inspector Mahamat Idriss, those arrested were involved in a wide range of illicit activities. These activities included forging official documents, counterfeiting currency, armed robbery, and embezzlement. Twenty-nine of these individuals are suspected of various offenses, including forgery and use of forged documents, armed robbery, embezzlement of public funds, and counterfeiting.
Major seizures and modus operandi
The searches conducted by law enforcement resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of equipment used in the fraudulent operations. These included laptops, printers, scanners, and various accessories used to create fake administrative documents (ID cards, driving licenses, and public institution badges). The police also recovered five motorcycles and narcotics, which the criminals allegedly used to operate "without fear or terror."
A notable case involves an individual arrested in possession of an automatic pistol loaded with seven bullets and a fake membership card for a human rights organization. According to Controller Mahamat Idriss, this suspect allegedly attempted to interfere in a conflict involving his accomplices and Turkish nationals, with the aim of stifling an ongoing legal case.
Repeat offenses and counterfeiting
Among those arrested was Mahamat Adoum Saleh, already known to the security services. Detained in Koro Toro following an initial arrest on September 4, he was caught red-handed again on October 16 in N'Djamena, alongside his accomplice Malamat Ali Annour. Their modus operandi consisted of "putting motorcycle taxi drivers to sleep before robbing them."
Finally, the investigations revealed the existence of a well-organized counterfeiting network in the capital. The "irrefutable" proof of this was the discovery of two million CFA francs in counterfeit banknotes, all bearing the same serial number, the police emphasized.
