« Tuez-moi si vous voulez… » : La réaction musclée de Tchiroma après la proclamation de la victoire de Paul Biya au Cameroun
It's official. Paul Biya is in his eighth term. The outgoing president was declared the winner of the presidential election held on October 12 by the Constitutional Council. According to this august court, he obtained 53.66% of the votes cast.
The old leader thus prevailed over his main challenger, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, who did not admit defeat at all.
"They are shooting at civilians camped in front of my house."
In a message published on social networks, he even warned of a police operation in front of his residence in Garoua, in the north of the country.
"Urgent: Currently, at my home in Garoua, they are shooting at civilians camped in front of my house. The assault has begun," he said.
According to him, there have already been two deaths. The politician specifically accuses the security forces of being "mercenaries" and promises to liberate Cameroon by "all means."
"I will liberate this country by all means."
"Shooting our own brothers at point-blank range - I wonder if you are not mercenaries. Kill me if you want, but I will liberate this country by all means. What notorious impunity!" the former collaborator of Paul Biya was indignant.
His rather belligerent remarks add to the already palpable tension in Garoua.
According to Mr. Tchiroma's representatives, he is doing well and is in good health. His security and that of his residence are "ensured by the local population of Garoua."
