Daleu : Le calvaire des agriculteurs face à l'enclavement

In the sub-prefecture of Daleu (Danané department), the abundant harvest has turned into a logistical nightmare. Following a field mission on Friday, April 17, 2026, Member of Parliament Guillaume Gbato sounded the alarm: nearly 80% of agricultural production is lost because it cannot be transported to markets.

Agricultural potential stifled by mud

Despite its strong potential in coffee, cocoa, and food crops, the region suffers from extreme deterioration of its road infrastructure. For the local representative, the situation is bleak:

  1. Record production: Farmers are working hard and producing in large quantities.
  2. Poor logistics: Impassable roads, particularly during the rainy season, isolate the camps.
  3. Massive losses: The inability to evacuate the products leads to the rotting of the majority of the crops.

A legacy of crisis that is hindering development

This critical situation has its roots in the aftermath of the military-political crisis of the 2000s. Guillaume Gbato highlights a chronic lack of investment in local infrastructure for two decades.

"People cannot transport their harvests to marketing centers. This results in huge losses estimated at 80%," the parliamentarian lamented.

The call to action: Paving as a priority

Faced with this emergency, the MP is calling on the government to step up its efforts. Expectations are focused on:

  1. The Danané–Sipilou axis: The paving of this road, already included in the National Development Programme (PND), is considered a priority.
  2. Border security: Located on the border with Guinea, the area requires smooth roads to ensure both economic prosperity and territorial surveillance.

In conclusion, the opening up of Daleu is presented not only as an economic necessity to save the agricultural sector, but also as an essential social lever to sustainably integrate this region into the rest of Ivory Coast.
