The headquarters of the Interprofessional Fund for Agricultural Research and Advisory Services (FIRCA) in Cocody was the scene of an emotionally charged ceremony on Thursday, April 16, 2026. At the initiative of the current Executive Director, Mr. N'Diaye Oumar, the institution paid a vibrant tribute to its first leader, Dr. Angniman Ackah Pierre .

This event marks the launch of the "FIRCA Pioneers' Year" , an initiative to celebrate the organization's historical figures and consolidate its institutional memory.

The highlights of the celebration

To immortalize Dr. Ackah's legacy, several symbolic actions were carried out:

1. Dedication of the Auditorium: The conference room at headquarters now officially bears the name of Dr. Angniman Ackah Pierre.
2. Conference “Memory of a Builder”: A sharing of experience on the origins and foundations of the Fund.
3. Retrospective: The screening of a documentary film retracing his term (2003-2018).

Acclaimed visionary leadership

Mr. N'Diaye Oumar described his predecessor as a "major figure in Ivorian agricultural development." He recalled that Dr. Ackah had the difficult task of leading the institution from its creation in October 2003, in a context of uncertainty.

“Building a fledgling institution requires convincing and establishing trust. Dr. Ackah did this with exemplary vision and rigor,” Mr. N’Diaye emphasized.

Under his leadership, FIRCA has become a model of strategic financing, based on an unprecedented collaboration between the State, agricultural sectors and financial partners.

Heritage and transmission

Visibly moved, Dr. Angniman Ackah shared his gratitude, recalling that FIRCA's success rests on a fundamental principle: the empowerment of producers . For him, farmers should no longer be mere beneficiaries, but active economic actors, decision-makers committed to financing their own development.

Addressing the young employees, he emphasized two key points:

1. The meaning of public service.
2. Excellence through hard work.

A tangible real estate portfolio

The ceremony concluded with a tour of the headquarters, an imposing 3,723 m² building spread over four levels, which Dr. Ackah initiated. This building, inaugurated in 2018, now symbolizes the strength and deep roots of agricultural research in Côte d'Ivoire.

The meeting took place in the presence of dignitaries from the agricultural sector, technical partners and the recipient's family, thus sealing a bridge between the institution's glorious past and its future ambitions.
