Présidentielle 2025 : la CEI dénonce une fausse publication de “résultats provisoires” avant le scrutin
On the eve of the presidential election scheduled for October 25, 2025, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) denounced, in an official press release, the online dissemination of so-called “provisional results” of the election.
According to the institution, this information circulating on social media and certain websites does not come from any official source and constitutes manipulation aimed at sowing confusion among public opinion. The CEI specifies that no vote had yet taken place at the time of this publication, recalling that the proclamation of results falls exclusively within its jurisdiction.
The press release also states that Article 39 of the Ivorian Electoral Code strictly prohibits the publication or dissemination of results before the official announcement. The CEI therefore urges citizens, the media, and digital platforms to exercise the utmost caution against the circulation of false information during this sensitive period.
"We call on all stakeholders to demonstrate responsibility and to stick to information coming from official channels," the Commission emphasizes.
This clarification comes after a technical incident on the Abidjan.net platform had, a few hours earlier, led to the erroneous display of data presented as election results. Although the media outlet issued a public apology, the incident fueled speculation on social media.
The CEI finally recalls that the official results of the presidential election will be published gradually after the vote , in accordance with legal procedures, and invites citizens to wait for its official announcements to be informed reliably.
