Abissa 2025 à Grand-Bassam : quand tradition et cohésion sociale se rencontrent
From October 5 to 19, 2025, Grand-Bassam vibrated to the rhythm of ancestral dances and rituals during Abissa 2025, one of the most emblematic cultural festivals in Côte d'Ivoire. This celebration, led by the N'Zima people, is not limited to celebration: it embodies a moment of purification, reconciliation, and spiritual renewal for the community.
The theme of this edition, "Abissa, a dance of peace, warding off calamities and strengthening social cohesion" , perfectly reflects the spirit of the event. For two weeks, the city of Grand-Bassam was the scene of royal ceremonies, ritual dances and community activities that strengthened ties between residents and celebrated the cultural identity of the N'Zima people.
At the heart of these festivities, King Amon Tanoh Désiré played a central role, guiding the ancestral rituals and symbolic moments that mark the Abissa. Participants were able to experience moments of contemplation and purification, while enjoying live performances that convey the richness and depth of local traditions.
Abissa is not just a celebration: it is a true moment of gathering and cultural transmission, where each dance, each ritual and each ceremony tells the story of a people attached to their roots while projecting a message of peace and solidarity.
For Grand-Bassam and the people of N'Zima, Abissa 2025 will remain a memorable edition, a vibrant testimony to the importance of traditions in building strong and lasting social bonds.
