L’ASCAD octroie 14 millions de FCFA pour booster la recherche scientifique

Academic excellence was celebrated on April 23rd at the National School of Statistics and Applied Economics (ENSEA). At the 12th edition of its annual research grant , the Academy of Sciences, Arts, Cultures of Africa and the African Diasporas ( ASCAD ) officially unveiled the three winning projects for 2025.

Placed under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Adama Diawara , this ceremony marks concrete support for local innovation.

Three strategic projects for development

Out of about twenty applications, three researchers under 45 years old stood out for the relevance of their work, all rooted in the field of exact sciences :

  1. Water pollution control: Dr. Yéhé Désirée Mariette (UFHB) proposes a mobile prototype using solar power and biomass to decontaminate industrial water polluted with copper.
  2. Fighting diabetes: Dr. Djoman Ahouman Elisé (UFHB) is working on the valorization of shea cakes as anti-hyperglycemic agents.
  3. Smart agriculture: Dr. Anoh Nogbou Georges (UVCI) is developing an Internet of Things (IoT) system to protect cereal crops from rodents and birds.

An investment of 14 million FCFA

The overall budget of 14 million FCFA aims not only to finance these technological solutions, but also to support the training of Master's and Doctoral students associated with this work.

“A scholarship is not a prize, but a commitment to the nation to meet its needs and be at the heart of its great achievements.” — Prof. Aké GM N'Gbo , President of ASCAD.

Research in service of the citizen

Minister Adama Diawara welcomed the alignment of these themes with national challenges. He believes that research must not remain theoretical; it must provide concrete solutions to the economic and environmental challenges facing Côte d'Ivoire.

By supporting these young PhDs, ASCAD reaffirms its mission to strengthen the social and cultural fabric of the country by promoting its brightest human resources.
