SILA 2026 : Le Livre comme Ciment de la Nation Ivoirienne
The opening of the 16th Abidjan International Book Fair (SILA) , this Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the Exhibition Park, marked a symbolic turning point for the cultural sector. Under the high patronage of President Alassane Ouattara , the Minister of Culture and Francophonie, Françoise Remarck , strongly reaffirmed that culture is no longer mere entertainment, but a true engine of growth and stability for Côte d'Ivoire.
In a speech filled with gratitude towards the head of state, the minister highlighted the transformation of the public vision:
"A child who reads becomes an adult who thinks."

The general commissioner of SILA, Anges Félix N'Dakpri , recalled the progress made. Thanks to presidential support, the fair has transformed: from a trade fair, it has become a global intellectual hub .
"If infrastructure builds the body of a nation, culture and books constitute its soul," he stated to illustrate the importance of this event.
The ceremony concluded with a tour of the stands by the President of the Republic, demonstrating the commitment at the highest level of the State to making books the foundation of Ivory Coast's emergence.
