Yacine Idriss Diallo nommé Consul honoraire des Bahamas
The president of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), Yacine Idriss Diallo , has just added a new string to his bow. The strongman of Ivorian football has been officially named Honorary Consul of the Bahamas in Côte d'Ivoire , a recognition that goes beyond the sporting sphere to salute his influence, his leadership and his commitment to the country's influence.
The appointment ceremony took place on October 21, 2025 , at the Bahamian Ministry of Foreign Affairs , under the chairmanship of Minister Frederick Mitchell . He presented the mission letter to Mr. Diallo, while emphasizing the Bahamas' desire to strengthen its ties with West Africa , and more specifically with Côte d'Ivoire, "a country of stability, growth and prospects."
During their discussions, the two men discussed areas of bilateral cooperation between Abidjan and Nassau, particularly in the economic, agricultural, tourism and sports sectors . These promising discussions pave the way for concrete and lasting partnerships between the two nations.
"It is an honor to be chosen to represent the Bahamas in Côte d'Ivoire. I am committed to working to bring our peoples closer together and to building bridges of cooperation that will bring promise for the future," said Yacine Idriss Diallo, visibly moved by this vote of confidence.
Following this, the new honorary consul was received by the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Philip A. Davis , for a warm meeting. This meeting served to reaffirm the shared desire to deepen diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.
With this appointment, Côte d'Ivoire and the Bahamas are laying the foundations for a new era of cooperation , marked by an opening to the Caribbean and an unprecedented South-South rapprochement.
